Landing a job as a freelance Virtual Assistant entails bidding for one on the internet or locally, which dissipates time and energy. For beginners, this may sound frustrating especially for those who transited from 9 to 5 mode of work.
Another setback in the freelance lifestyle is the lack of time for proper marketing strategies due to workload and other distractions.
However, this pressure can be reduced by registering on job boards where providers and clients meet. This in many cases have proven to be a good step in the right direction for many freelancers to land their first job.
In my search for platforms providing work for freelancers, I picked 3 websites that are of great advantage to prospecting Virtual Assistants. They are listed below:

1.        Upwork.com – (formerly Elance-oDesk) is a global freelancing platform where businesses and independent professionals connect and collaborate remotely. In 2015, Elance-oDesk was rebranded as Upwork. It is based in Mountain View and San Francisco, California. The full name is Upwork Global Inc. Source - Wikipedia
According to the Wikipedia, as of February 2013 Elance was used by approximately 500,000 businesses and two million registered freelance professionals, who have collectively earned nearly $850 million to date. The platform allows businesses to post jobs, search for freelance professionals and solicit proposals. They can evaluate contractors applying for job and once a contractor is selected, communications and files are exchanged. Payments are made at end of work and deduction is collected by the platform as commission. Upwork can pay with direct wire transfer to your local bank account.

2.        Freelancer.com - Is a website based in Australia. It is also a good platform for Virtual Assistants, covering professionals worldwide. It allows potential employers to post jobs that freelancers can bid to complete. You can participate by registering on the platform for free and bid for jobs. Although, there is paid membership level which goes a long way in allotting more bids and other privileges to a freelancer, a starter can always begin with the free membership. Commissions are also deducted from source as work is completed.

3.        Fiverr.com is another good online market place. One wonderful thing about this site is that freelancers are given the opportunity of marketing their profile or skills in form of gigs which basically shows at a glance, services you can provide. Currently, more than 3 million gigs are available on Fiverr, which starts from as low as $5 to $500. These low cost services form the main idea behind development of the site.

Although the list of sites are inexhaustible, my experience as a freelancer from a particular part of the globe has influenced my choice of these three because of various reasons ranging from acceptability of members from my country, Nigeria and the flexible payment system which includes using of Payoneer card services.
Why not give it a try today, make the first step by registering.
